In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, Cawarden is emphasising to all its colleagues that it’s okay to ask for help.
As part of its ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing, the Derby-based specialist contractor is proud to introduce a dedicated team of internal mental health first-aiders. New posters displayed around offices and sites will serve as a visual reminder of Cawarden’s commitment to supporting each other’s mental health.
The team consists of four mental health first-aiders from various roles within the company, all of whom have undergone rigorous mental health first-aid training. They are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to offer assistance and support to colleagues experiencing mental health challenges, and can guide individuals toward professional support if needed.
By raising awareness of the importance of good mental health and providing resources for support, Cawarden aims to continue to deliver a supportive and understanding environment for everyone at the company.
As part of its commitment to being a caring employer, Cawarden hosts various employee events throughout the year, including socials, company stand-down events, and wellness sessions in the workplace.
According to the Lighthouse Club charity, stress, depression, or anxiety account for 27% of all work-related illnesses in construction, and every single day in the UK, two construction workers take their own lives.
“This is a significant issue in our sector and something we are deeply aware of as a business. That’s why we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our team and creating a positive working environment where people feel empowered to help one another or seek help if needed.
“By providing our employees with the tools and support they need to manage their mental and physical health, we hope to create a happier, healthier workplace for everyone.”
