Derby-based specialist contractor Cawarden has been recognised with an International Green Apple Environment Award for its outstanding commitment to sustainability and environmental innovation.
Selected from over 700 entries worldwide, Cawarden was honoured at a prestigious ceremony at the House of Lords, London, on 17 November 2025. The accolade, presented by The Green Organisation, celebrates the company’s pioneering approach to sustainable groundworks and civils delivery at Brooksby College in Leicestershire, delivered in partnership with Tilbury Douglas.
The award highlights Cawarden’s bold use of Eco Type 1 IBAA, a recycled aggregate supplied by Johnsons Aggregates and Recycling Ltd, which delivered measurable environmental benefits: 1,800 tonnes of CO₂ saved, 6,000 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill, up to 13% less material required by weight, and reduced transport emissions through local sourcing.
Receiving this award alongside our client Tilbury Douglas is a proud moment for Cawarden. It reflects the strength of our collaboration and the shared commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes at Brooksby College. We’re especially grateful to Johnsons Aggregates and Recycling Ltd for supplying the recycled material that played a key role in our success.
This recognition is a testament to what can be achieved when sustainability is embedded throughout project delivery. We remain committed to sharing our insights and supporting the wider industry in adopting practical, low-carbon solutions.
