Cawarden completes major strip-out and complex industrial demolition and dismantling works at the former Brinton Carpet manufacturing site in Shropshire.
After a 50-year history of yarn manufacturing at the Brinton Carpet site in Telford, production had ceased at the facility with processes consolidated and moved to European plants.
The client appointed Cawarden to the project for refit and refurbishment of the site, with the aim of attracting future tenants.
Our extensive scope of work included the partial demolition of the steel-framed building, removal of boilers, tanks, and concrete mezzanine floors, as well as complete removal of M&E and ductwork throughout the 18,000m2 building.
In addition, we removed five chimney stacks which required an impressive lift operation using a 70t mobile crane with suspended man baskets. The Cawarden team working in partnership with the lifting company expertly managed and flawlessly coordinated the entire operation.
The works involved burners and very high-spec demolition machines with concrete pulverisers and metal shears.
Overall, our work has helped repurpose the brownfield site to deliver a beneficial after-use and renewed economic prosperity for years to come.
